Fillet Frame – $5.00

What is a fillet? A fillet is a small moulding placed inside a frame or over a mat to enhance the design of the finished piece. Fillets add a sensation of color and texture to works of art because they are more dimensional than mats and add drama by helping the eye focus in on the artwork.

Come by the Frame Shop and pick up your FREE Project idea sheet. Use pretty papers from our Paper Arts  Department and ribbons from our Fabric Department, add butterflies or birds  to create your own fabulous picture project.

Don’t want to do it yourself? Let us build a fillet frame for you. Talk to our creative Custom Framers and we will be happy to show you some great designs. Combining fabric mats with fillets is a very popular, creative, and versatile way to frame artwork. A design can include a frame and fillet that are the same or different, depending upon the art and the effect desired. Come in with that special photo or piece of art, and we will design a beautiful package with a fillet to complement it. Your artwork won’t just be unique, it will also look fabulous.

A Selection of 15 Black Frames to Choose From

20% OFF GREAT VALUE!

Try Stacked Frames for a Different Look!

Two  mouldings were stacked to add to the width of this frame. For a more dramatic effect, colors and patterns can be stacked to create a unique frame design.

Do you like the color of one moulding but the width of another? Do you need a wider moulding than what’s available?Finding that look for a particular print isn’t always easy. Combining different moulding styles and materials is a great way to achieve the look you want. You can stack two or more mouldings to create a single frame that fits your style. If you have a seascape you’d like to frame, you can combine blue and green mouldings to complement the colors in the print. Or choose colors found in the room where your frame will hang. Do you have brown in your bedroom? Incorporate it by stacking brown and white mouldings. Of course, stacking moulding isn’t just for decorative purposes; it can be functional as well. If you love the color and pattern of a moulding but it isn’t available in the width you need, stack two or more together. Stacked mouldings could be the answer to your framing needs.

The holiday season is fast approaching and we are busy preparing our shop for our annual open house on November 12th. There is still time to come by and scoop up those great deals on some Halloween matting.

Halloween is 40% off though out the store! If you are doing some early holiday shopping and looking for the perfect gift consider giving a personal item that can be enjoyed each and every day of the year. Have something custom framed. Be sure to come in early to book your custom frame job. Whether you need a gift for your mother, your husband, your sister, or a business associate, there are many options available to you. Choose a print that you know someone on your gift list would love to have; bring in a favorite photo that is precious to the person you have in mind; or, if you’ve found an antique drawing that you know they would treasure, we can design a beautiful frame for a one-of-a-kind piece. The options don’t end with two-dimensional items. Framing objects that are special to someone—such as their child’s silver spoon—make for a thoughtful (and often unique) gift. We create shadowbox frames that feature the depth needed to both showcase and protect the items inside. A custom frame for an autographed sports jersey — it’s a slam dunk gift!

Dazzle the die-hard fan in your life that waited in line for an autograph on their sports jersey by presenting that item in a great custom frame. Or delight someone by giving them a shadowbox containing mementos of a special time or place. Family heirlooms make for a great centerpiece in a custom frame. We will work with you to choose the framing materials with colors and textures that make whatever you choose a masterpiece. And, all of the artwork and items we handle can be framed with preservation methods, which help to protect these treasures from fading, degradation, and other environmental effects. If you’re not sure exactly what to have framed, you can choose to give a gift certificate for custom framing. The recipient will experience the added joy of choosing just what they want.  Gift options abound with the versatility of our custom framing designs. Happy Holidays!

The custom frame shop has just added a top of the line mat cutting tool called the Wizard 9000. With this computerized mat cutter,we are offering advanced design options including: pen drawings, debossed lines and three bevel options to expand our creativity.

The implementation of pen or debossed designs, from a single pen line to intricate decorative design around mat openings can be a tasteful addition to any composition.   Add interesting lines around your antique photos or captions to important occasions.

We make it easy with our Wizard 9000.   We know the mat is a very important part of a frame design—it not only unifies the space between artwork and frame but also  protects the artwork from a number of hazards. As framers, our first concern is to present artwork at its best. We know that sometimes a print, photograph, or similar type of paper-borne artwork can look “lost” in a frame without a mat. It can be difficult for the eye to move from the art image out to the solid, sturdy frame surrounding it.  A mat provides a transition between these two worlds. That’s also why matboard color, shape,  textures and designs are important in a frame design. Everything from how light or dark  the matboard color is; a double or triple mat; or a matting with a specialty cut, pen or debossed design from our new Wizard 9000 affects how you see and react to the  image in the frame.  Matting in the frame design is also a practical measure.   Works on paper, like many other items, react to their environment. Changes in temperature and humidity can cause paper to expand and contract, or buckle or cockle, making it “wavy.” A mat can help a piece of art from becoming deformed  these ways. A mat also helps to protect by distancing the art- work away from the glass or acrylic.  Some matboard products are also preservation-quality,meaning they are free of certain acids and other materials that can react with paper and cause it to yellow and degrade. There are even mats available that contain materials that actively seek out harmful pollutants that may be present. Whether you want a frame design that is decorative, preservational, or both, we can assist you in choosing a matting design that will meet all of your needs.

It’s finally summertime and time for outdoor activities and vacations. And what better way is  there to preserve those memories than a framed photo or shadow box.  Imagine your fondest memories hanging in the den or living room for you to enjoy every day. Create a vacation-themed display by combining photographs, souvenirs, and special pieces you’ve purchased while away. Or you can focus on one special vacation memory. For example, choose a collection of seashells from a beach vacation, poker chips from Las Vegas,or a set of postcards from Europe.  A shadowbox can easily become the focal point of a room. What makes a vacation shadowbox special is that it is filled with your unique, special memories and keep sakes.  Shadowboxes can be designed to open and close so that the objects are removable. Interesting backgrounds and fabrics can be used to add color and dimension. Even a single sentimental item can be displayed to make a dramatic presentation.Vacation memories can be prominently displayed inyour home instead of packed away in a closet or attic. Just come in to our frameshop with your items and we will be glad to create a one-of-a-kind memory—custom made just for you.
